Twisted bread rings dipped in grape molasses and generously coated with sesame.
Mix flour, instant yeast, sugar and salt. Add lukewarm water and oil. Knead 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise 60 minutes, until doubled.
Lightly toast sesame in a dry pan over medium-low heat, stirring frequently for 3–5 minutes. Stop while pale golden, since it will brown further in the oven. Spread on a plate to cool.
Divide dough into 16 equal pieces. Roll each into a rope 14 inches long. Twist two ropes together, join the ends firmly and repeat to make eight rings. Rest covered for 15 minutes.
Heat the oven to 445°F. Mix molasses and dipping water in a shallow dish. Dip each ring, let excess drip off, then coat with sesame. Place four rings on each lined baking tray, leaving room to expand. Not all coating mixture may be needed.
Bake one tray at a time for 15–18 minutes, turning the tray if needed, until deep golden with a firm crust and cooked bread center. Keep the second tray covered while waiting. Cool on a rack before serving.
Roll two slender ropes for each ring and twist them together. Pinch the join securely so the ring holds its shape as it rises.
