Privacy notice
Scope
This notice describes the Taste of Türkiye website. Last updated: 20 October 2026.
Browsing and technical information
Vercel hosts this website, and Sanity supplies recipe content and images. Delivering and securing pages can involve technical request information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information and request times. Provider processing and retention depend on their service settings and terms; we do not promise a fixed deletion period for their logs.
We count visits anonymously with Vercel Web Analytics: the page visited (without search words or filters), the country, the device and browser type, and the site that linked to us. It uses no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across other websites; Vercel tells visits apart with a temporary code that is discarded after 24 hours.
We also measure how fast pages load with Vercel Speed Insights: the page (without search words or filters), the device type and load-time measurements. It uses no cookies and does not identify you.
Search and cookies
Search terms and selected filters appear in the page URL and may therefore appear in browser history and request logs. Recipe searches are also sent to our search provider, Algolia, to find matching recipes. Avoid entering personal information into search. We have not added advertising trackers, and the site does not set cookies of its own.
Information kept in your browser
The site keeps some settings in this browser's local storage so they still apply on your next visit: your saved recipes, the Metric or US measurement choice and the servings you set on a recipe, whether filter labels are shown, your progress in cooking mode, your own recipe ratings with a random identifier used for voting (see below), whether you closed or used the newsletter invitation, with a short code from your signup that does not contain your email address, and the pages you visited recently, used for breadcrumbs and "Back to recipe" links. For the current tab only, it also remembers your place in recipe and ingredient lists. Apart from the voting identifier sent when you rate a recipe and the signup code, sent once to check whether your newsletter signup was confirmed, this information stays on your device and is not sent to us. Clearing this website's browser data removes it.
Ratings
Recipe ratings need no account. When you rate a recipe, your browser sends the star rating with a random identifier it created for voting. We store the rating against a keyed hash of that identifier, not the identifier itself, together with the times of your first and latest vote, so you can change your rating. To limit abuse, a keyed hash of your network address is kept in short-lived counters that expire within 24 hours. Ratings are stored with our database provider, Upstash.
Public accounts, reader comments and contact forms are not enabled. Contact options are on the Contact page.
Newsletter
If you sign up for the newsletter, we use your email address and chosen language to send you a confirmation email and, once you confirm, the Taste of Türkiye newsletter. You are subscribed only after you confirm.
We record when you asked to subscribe, when you confirmed, canceled or unsubscribed, which signup form you used (the newsletter page, the end of a recipe or the pop-up invitation), and your consent. We use this to manage your subscription and to count, without names, how many signups each form brings.
Our email provider, Resend, stores the mailing list and delivers our emails. Subscriber addresses are not stored on our website. To reduce spam and repeated requests, we use limited request information.
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. Changing language needs a new email confirmation. Records of unsubscribes and blocked deliveries may be kept so we do not email you again.
For questions or requests about your newsletter data, write to hello@tasteofturkiye.org.
Service providers
The website uses these service providers: Vercel for hosting, anonymous visit counts and page-speed measurements, Sanity for content and images, Algolia for recipe search, Upstash for storing ratings and Resend for newsletter email. Each processes information under its own terms and service settings. This notice describes how the website works today; it is not a claim that no technical information is processed when you browse.
