Hatay-Style Herb Tea
A fragrant, clear zahter infusion, briefly steeped and strained.
The Turkish pantry
A dried herb for a thyme-like infusion. Check that you are buying tea herb, not a salted breakfast seasoning.
Last updated:
This identity is dried food-grade zahter for tea. The registered Gaziantep tea specifies Thymbra spicata aerial parts; that is a documented example, not proof of every unlabeled market herb’s species. Zahter may also name breakfast blends containing sesame, sumac and salt.

Dried leaves, flowers and tender shoot tips, with a declared identity.
Read the actual herb and any other ingredients.
A food-grade thyme or oregano infusion makes a different drink, not the same Gaziantep zahter tea.
A blended breakfast seasoning is not an equivalent tea ingredient.
No verified nutrition data is available for this ingredient.
The registered tea has a documented reputation link to Gaziantep. Breakfast zahter in Kilis demonstrates why the word alone is not a sufficient buying specification.
